The Water Authority of Dickson County recently installed a Justified Automated Collection Kiosk (JACK) at Fairview City Hall to improve customers’ bill paying process.
According to Cindy Hayes, WADC customer service manager, “It was installed to help our customers. To give people more opportunities, different ways to pay.”
The new payment kiosk allows WADC customers to pay their water/sewer bill with cash, check, credit card or debit card. Hayes advised that the previous drop box did not allow for credit card or debit card payments.
However, the most important new feature is that the kiosk generates a receipt for each payment transaction. Hayes said, “Now, you can pay your bill any time you want - - and you can actually get a receipt when you pay!”
She noted this also helps WADC customers avoid placing their payment in one of the other drop boxes. “We’ve had a lot of people put their payment in the wrong box. You are going to get a receipt when you put cash, check or credit card in this,” said Hayes.
Along with JACK, the city hall drive-thru also has a Middle Tennessee Electric payment drop box and a city taxes/traffic citations drop box.
Not everyone is happy with the change, Hayes said some customers, who are used to just driving up and dropping off their payment, are required to now enter or look up their account number before making a payment at the touch screen kiosk.
Customers should also note that the kiosk does not give change with cash payments. Instead, the amount in excess of payment due is credited to next month's bill.
Hayes emphasized, WADC installed the new kiosk “to give people more opportunities, different ways to pay. You can pay your bill any time you want to and you can actually get a receipt.
She reported the new kiosk has been very successful in Dickson County with a few minor ‘bugs’ worked out since installation.
Hayes said there is a phone offer on the kiosk if a customer encounters a problem with the payment process.
WADC additionally offers the automated phone payment option at 7-855-373-0820 or online payment option at www.wadc.us. She also noted First Federal Bank in Fairview still accepts WADC payments “if you have your bill and a check-- but it can’t be late payment.”
